Meet Our Leaders
Sabrina Martin, MPT, Chief Executive Officer
Sabrina possesses more than 10 years in healthcare leadership in acute and in-patient rehabilitation facilities. Today, she is responsible for the leadership and management of the day to day functions of our hospital.
After earning her bachelor’s degree in biology from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M., Sabrina also completed her master’s degree in physical therapy at the University of Texas in El Paso, Texas. She is a member of the National Stroke Association Rehabilitation Steering Committee and American Physical Therapy Health Policy and Administration.
Sabrina is committed to elevating her community in all its facets and serves on the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and New Mexico State University’s College of Health and Social Services Advisory Board.
Dr. Kimberly Encapera, Medical Director
With more than 7 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, Dr. Encapera is well suited to manage inpatient care and the medical components our work.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Okla., Dr. Encapera received a medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Ky. She completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C.
Dr. Encapera is involved with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Association of Academic Physiatrists, and the American Medical Association. In her free time, she enjoys athletics including hiking, jogging and biking.
Elizabeth Striplin, Chief Financial Officer
Twenty five years of experience in the finance, accounting and management fields have given Elizabeth the background she needs to lead our financial planning, management, analysis and reporting initiatives for the hospital.
Having joined the hospital in 2011, she has spent more than 12 years in senior account management, eight years in government contracting, with additional time spent in management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and human resources.
Elizabeth enjoys working with the New Mexico Hospital Association, the New Mexico Friends of Rehab, Inc., and the American Red Cross.
Luis A. Roman, Director of Plant Operations
Luis is an El Paso, TX native and has more than 18 years’ experience in hospital plant and operations. Luis holds an Associate’s Degree from Western Tech in HVAC. Luis has most recently been an Engineering Supervisor for the last 10 years, and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team. As a Navy reservist, Luis has been formally trained as an equipment operator as well, and will bring with him the comradery and training he received there to the benefit of our entire team and facility.
April Barela, Director of Case Management/PAI
April provides direction in discharge planning and care coordination for the case management team and coordinates the inpatient rehabilitation patient assessment instrument with the interdisciplinary team.
A registered nurse, she brings more than 12 years of experience to her role. April earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. She’s currently enrolled in a master’s degree program for nursing at the university. She is a member of the American Nurses Association.
Carole A. Carson, Director of Nursing Operations
Before coming to the hospital, Carole spent more than six years working in critical care. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. and a degree in exercise physiology from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky.
Carole is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning. She loves to serve the people in her community as an instructor at New Mexico State University and an Advisory Board Member of Dona Ana Community College Nursing Department.
Fitz Glasgow, Director of Pharmacy
Seven years of experience focused on rehabilitation and long-term acute care bring Fitz to us where he is responsible for the safe preparation and deliver of medication to our patients.
Fitz began is academic career by earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., and then earned a master’s degree in chemistry at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He earned a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M.
Fitz is involved with the New Mexico Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the American Pharmacist Association as well as a Mobile Med Team with Sagebrush Community Church.
Yolanda Mendoza, Director of Human Resources
Yolanda possesses extensive experience in various areas of human resources and management. She has held prior positions such as, senior employee relations specialist, employment supervisor and director of human resources in hospital settings.
Ricky Molina, Director of Marketing and Business Development
Ricky possesses more than eight years of marketing and business development experience in a range of industries, including healthcare. He earned both a bachelor’s degree in management/economics and a master’s degree with a focus in organizational behavior from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.
A former Marine Corps Officer, Ricky recently re-located to the region and is looking forward to becoming involved in the community.
Jennifer Risley, Director of Therapy
Jennifer is committed to learning and doing all she can to provide quality, state-of-the art, and patient-centered therapeutic services for everyone who walks through our doors. Jennifer has spent more than eight years as an occupational therapist with experience in long term acute care, in-patient rehab, home health services, and pediatrics. She is Neuro-IFRAH Certified with additional training in aquatic therapy and hippo-therapy.
Her responsibility is to oversee inpatient and outpatient therapy operations.
Jennifer gained her bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition sciences from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M. and then completed her master’s degree in occupational therapy at Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. She is a member of American Occupational Therapy Association.
Jennifer loves helping others and now serves as secretary for the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army of Las Cruces.
Roy Rivas, Director of Compliance
Roy has been a registered respiratory therapist for more than 16 years with practice focused in long term acute care, rehabilitation, critical care, diagnostic testing and clinical education.
Roy is a member of the Advisory Board for the Respiratory Care Program at Dona Ana Community College. He was the first respiratory therapist employed by Ernest Health and set up our flagship hospital’s respiratory care program.
Roy is active in several quality healthcare initiatives and brings in-depth knowledge and skills to our continuous quality improvement program. He is a native of Las Cruces and lives by our Guiding Principles.
