Ranked in the Top 10% Nationally for Rehabilitative Care.

Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico ranked in the top 10% nationally for rehabilitative care for the 14th consecutive year.

The ranking is by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR), a not-for-profit corporation that was developed with support from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation research, a component of the U.S. Department of Education.

The UDSMR ranks rehabilitation facilities based upon care that is:

  • Patient-centered
  • Effective
  • Efficient
  • Timely

This means that through services at Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico, our patients are receiving the highest level of rehabilitative care available – without having to leave the area.

UDSMR, which administers the world’s largest medical rehabilitation database, provides common language and measurement tools to monitor patient results.

Through UDSMR, our hospital collaborates with peers throughout the United States to share information and establish best practices for patients. This helps us elevate rehabilitative care for everyone across the United States.

Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico is the first hospital in Las Cruces and one of a few in New Mexico to receive The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Brain Injury rehabilitation. This certification signifies the hospital’s commitment to providing a higher standard of service for patients that have suffered brain injuries.

The certification was given after a rigorous on-site review by an expert evaluator of the hospital’s practices, programs and outcomes in treating these patients. The Gold Seal of Approval reflects our ongoing dedication to constantly improve our performance and therefore improve the lives of the patients we serve. Many of our team members have voluntarily earned advanced certifications to treat and manage adults with brain injuries.

Certification through The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Programs is voluntary and available only to Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospitals. Certification requirements address three main areas:

  1. Compliance with consensus-based national standards

  3. Organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities
